Newsroom Ready: 'Seek and destroy' revelations rock final days of federal campaign
Andrew Scheer found himself on the defensive Saturday in Toronto amid allegations that his Conservatives hired a well-known political operative to smear his upstart right-wing rival Maxime Bernier and the People’s Party of Canada. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, who seized on the Globe and Mail report as more evidence of Conservative deceit, promised to make things right with Indigenous communities even though his government intends to appeal a key human rights ruling. And all the while, the NDP’s Jagmeet Singh — who is attracting hundreds to his daily rallies — tried to stay above the fray, promoting his big-vision affordable housing plan in Vancouver and the differences between New Democrats, Conservatives and Liberals.
