Pope presides over mass in Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré, Que.
Indigenous people met Pope Francis’s Quebec City-area mass with a mix of hope and skepticism as they want to hear more about the church’s next steps in the reconciliation journey. Francis hosted a reconciliation-themed mass before a congregation made up largely of residential school survivors and other Indigenous people, one day after delivering a second apology this week and plea for forgiveness for the role played by Catholic institutions in the schools.
