Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc marks first national truth and reconciliation day
The sounds of singing and hand drums rang out directly after a moment of silence at the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc pow wow arbour in Kamloops, B.C., to honour survivors and children who went missing from Canada's residential school system. The gathering to mark the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation took place just a short walk from the site of the former residential institution where the nation revealed earlier this year that ground-penetrating radar had detected at least 200 unmarked graves
