Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Trudeau refused, like U.S. officials, to acknowledge a Wall Street Journal report that Justice Department lawyers have approached Chinese tech executive Meng Wanzhou's legal team about the possibility of a so-called deferred prosecution agreement. He says Canada’s “absolute priority” is the safe release of Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, who have been detained in China since December 2018.
