European and German parliaments commemorate 80th anniversary of Auschwitz liberation
The European and German parliaments on Wednesday commemorated the victims of Nazi rule and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. In Berlin, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Roman Schwarzman, a Ukraine-born Holocaust survivor addressed parliament. A moment of silence was observed at the ceremony in remembrance of the Holocaust victims in Brussels.
