Venice kicks off Carnival festivities honoring the city's legendary lover, Giacomo Casanova

The Venice Carnival opened on Friday with a performance marking the 300th anniversary of Giacomo Casanova, the city’s famed writer, adventurer and legendary lover. Crowds gathered in St. Mark’s Square on Valentine’s Day for a performance of a “Casanova Operapop”, starring Italian actor and singer Jacopo Sarno as Casanova.
