Clip: Oshawa mayor hopeful for future vehicle manufacturing in city
In the wake of General Motors announcing plans to shutter its Oshawa, Ont., plant, the city’s mayor says the community has lived through economic hits before. John Henry spoke in Oshawa on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018. SOUNDBITE: John Henry, Oshawa mayor PLACELINE: Oshawa, Ont. CREDIT: The Canadian Press LANGUAGE: English SCRIPT: Hopefully that those can retire will take that opportunity, and those that have an option of retraining will take that option as well but in the end it’s still, it’s hard to go home tonight and sit with your family worrying about where you’ll be tomorrow (...) I’ve lived in Oshawa all my life and I’ve been through strikes and product not coming to the city before, so hopefully the plant will realize what’s going on and we’ll see maybe a new electric vehicle or something coming to this community
