Newsroom Ready: New report calls for changes to northern policing
A national organization representing Inuit women in Canada is calling for a radical shift in the way police work is done in the North in light of findings in a new report released Thursday that has uncovered "systemic racialized policing" in the Arctic. The authors hone in on actions of police officers responding to cases of domestic violence in these regions, with women sharing they are often not believed when reporting abuse. Inuit women from the Arctic took part in a panel Thursday in Ottawa, highlighting their concerns about policing and ideas for how to improve services.
