Feds waiting for word from B.C. chiefs to call off blockades
Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller said Monday he is more committed than ever to finding a peaceful resolution to the protests blocking rail lines. Miller said the RCMP met the chiefs demand to close their office on the traditional territory but that did not in the end meet the expectations of the chiefs. Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer however said the government has let the blockades go on so long it was the direct reason mining company Teck decided to pull its application to build a big new oilsands mine in northern Alberta.
