Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam unveiled modelling Friday that suggests maintaining "basic" measures including masking and distancing could reduce the risk of COVID-19 overwhelming health-care capacity this winter. She also offered advice to those planning to gather for Thanksgiving and said she hoped Alberta and Saskatchewan had learned from the fourth wave that vaccinations alone cannot end COVID-19 — public health measures are necessary too.
