Newsroom Ready: Commission says Canada's sport system is 'broken'
The Future of Sport in Canada Commission has released its preliminary report, finding there are "deeply ingrained" issues across the country, from a culture of silence that has led to abuse and maltreatment of athletes, to underfunding and a lack of diversity. The report set out 71 recommendations for change, including a new funding model and the creation of an independent body tasked with the oversight of sport across the country. (Aug. 28, 2025)
