UNAIDS chief urges PM to reverse foreign aid cut

The head of UNAIDS, Winnie Byanyima, is urging Prime Minister Mark Carney to reverse his planned cuts to foreign aid and global health, telling The Canadian Press in Johannesburg that inequality is rising globally, and it's creating a more dangerous world. Jayati Ghosh, a prominent Indian economist, says Canada should work to ensure developing countries can produce life-saving medicines that are out of reach for the world's poor. (Nov. 30, 2025).
