Canadians caught in Taiwan's strongest earthquake in 25 years are describing scenes of chaos, including shaking so violent and persistent that it moved furniture and required people to crouch down to avoid falling over. Former Ottawa resident Jonathan McGill, a Canadian expat who has been living and working in Taiwan for seven years, said Wednesday’s earthquake made him feel “paralyzed with fear” although it lasted about two minutes.
